Rider On the White Horse
“Again,
the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and
hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Matthew 13:44
I was studying Revelation after listening to a song
called Beautiful Rider by Jake Hamilton, (for me this is one of the most
confusing and frightening books in the Bible).
The song talks about the rider on
the white horse and how beautiful is the Lamb that was slain.
Maybe because of the
symbolism of this Book, I don’t always understand the meaning of it. It intrigues me and draws me in because it is
like a book of puzzles. The more
difficult the puzzle the more I want to solve it. I believe that is why it is written as it
is. Remember the Parable of the Sower. God expects us to search for the truth. If we don’t spend time studying it we won’t
find the treasure hidden there.
The Parable
of the Sower Explained
“Therefore hear the
parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not
understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was
sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. But he who
received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and
immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures
only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the
word, immediately he stumbles. Now he who received seed among the thorns is he
who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches
choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. But he who received seed on the good
ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold,
some sixty, some thirty.” Matthew 13:18-23
If you have never studied
Revelations you may not know that in this Book are two white horses. The first one on a white horse rides in and
he has a bow, a crown and he goes out to conquer. Revelation 6:1-2. Satan is a great deceiver isn’t he? He even makes himself look like the Lamb of
God on a white horse. He is a master of
disguise. He will do anything and everything in his power to make us turn from
God. He wins if we do.
In Revelation 19:11-16
appears the true Lamb of God on a white horse.
The One on this horse was called Faithful and True. But on this One’s head are many crowns. His name is called The Word of God. But this One doesn’t come out alone. He has a heavenly army and they are clothed
in fine linen and are also riding white horses.
Another difference in the two is that this one has a name written on His
thigh, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Which rider will you
choose? Will we be drawn in by a poor
imitation or will we accept the Lamb of God on the white horse.
Prayer for the Day: Heavenly Father, as I
studied Revelation, it brought up more questions than I have answers to. I need Your help to reveal the hidden
treasure in Your Word. I am not a
biblical scholar and I haven’t had formal training in Bibleology. Help me to read and study the Bible, meditate
on it and gain understanding of Your amazing Word. I want to be more like Jesus so that when the
day comes, I will to stand before Him and Praise His Holy Name above all
others.
Scripture:
First Seal: The Conqueror
Now I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one
of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come and see.” And
I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown
was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. Revelation 6:1-2
Christ on a White Horse
Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat
on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes
war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He
had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe
dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies in
heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on
white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should
strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He
Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And
He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:
