The Pursuit of Happiness

We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.  ~Frederick Keonig

Do you ever think that happiness is just around the corner if you could only obtain one more thing?  It might be the new car, a new home, more money, a new wardrobe.....  Too often we don't realize that happiness is not just around the corner, most likely it is already there we just don't recognize it when we see it.  Happiness is not something you can buy, or strive for, or pay for.  Happiness comes from the inside not externally.

The sad part about happiness is most of us pursue it relentlessly and when it doesn't come we try that much harder to create it in our life.  I was watching the news and it was amazing how many stars on TV have more money than they could spend in a lifetime, yet they can't buy happiness.

The irony is the more you have the less happiness will come your way if your heart is not in the right place.

Prayer for the Day:  Heavenly Father, I too have searched for happiness in all the wrong places.  I pray that you will open my eyes to the happiness I already have in You.  Help me to stop searching for what can only come from inside.

Scripture:  Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.  For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.  Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds.  Psalm 149:3-5
